Youngsters Designs on New Multi Million Pound Centre
School pupils are being urged to exercise their artistic skills in a competition to mark the development of a pioneering £50m centre in Stoke on Trent.
A "Design a Logo" contest has been launched for school pupils in and around Bentilee, to mark the development of a state-of-the-art district centre in their neighbourhood.
A project procured by Stoke on Trent City Council, in partnership with North Stoke Primary Care Trust, the Bentilee District Centre will include a Housing Office, Library, Primary Health Care Centre, Citizens Advice Bureau, a Community Centre, youth facilities, a Health Walk-in Centre and new retail units.
The school pupil who wins the competition will see their artwork used throughout the development of the Bentilee District Centre and their logo will appear on publicity material for the site. The centre is scheduled to open in 2007.
J & S Seddon (Building) Ltd, who are constructing the centre, will provide £100 of arts materials for the winning pupil's school.
The judges will include representatives from Regenter, which has financed and will manage the PFI contract at the Bentilee District Centre, as well as Seddon. The deadline for entries is the 26th September 2005.
