Seddon Starts Demolition Job

J & S Seddon (Building) is demolishing a derelict pub on a Stoke-on-Trent housing estate, which is earmarked for a multi-million pound regeneration scheme.
Residents in the Meir area have campaigned for years to have The Thorley pub knocked down. Now J & S Seddon has started work to demolish the public house, working with Cobridge-based demolition company G Baskerville Ltd to take down the property.
RENEW North Staffordshire’s strategic housing partner in the area, Great Places Housing Group, has acquired the Thorley pub and once the building has been demolished, the cleared site will form part of Phase 1 of the Meir Area Regeneration Framework (ARF) - a comprehensive programme of improvements that will provide better housing and amenities in Meir. Feedback after a series of consultation events last summer indicated that 90% of residents supported the regeneration plans for Meir.

Barry Thompson and Steve Potter of J & S Seddon, together with representatives from Great Places Housing Group, RENEW, Stoke-on-Trent City Council – as well as Stoke-on-Trent South MP Rob Flello and Fred Rushton of the Meir Steering Group, were in attendance to see the bulldozers move in at the start of the demolition works.
