Seddon Celebrates Safer Stafford Launch

A unique new advice shop has opened in Stafford, following the completion of work by construction and maintenance company, J & S Seddon Building.

Under the works, a former retail unit has been totally revamped at the town’s main Guildhall shopping center, to create the Safer Stafford Shop.

Safer Stafford is a one-stop-shop, offering advice and information from organisations including Staffordshire Police, Stafford Borough Council, Crimestoppers, the fire and rescue service, Staffordshire County Council road safety staff and the Army Careers Service.

The mix of community safety and Army Careers facilities is thought to be unique and is attracting interest from other areas of the UK.

J & S Seddon Building’s Stafford office oversaw the works, which were carried out in less than a month.

A spokeperson from Seddon’s Stafford office said: “We were asked to create a shop in which people would feel comfortable to visit and talk over issues.

“The facility has an open area at the front which will be used to greet people, and provide an area for displays and information on safety projects.

“There are also two interview rooms and a staff kitchen. It has proved very popular in its first few days of trading, attracting much interest according to feedback from the community safety partnership.

“We are very pleased to have been chosen to work on a project which will benefit many residents in J & S Seddon’s home county of Staffordshire.”

Russ Cartlidge, Community Safety Co-ordinator for Stafford, said: “We were very pleased with the work carried-out on this valuable community project.

“The time constraints for the project were very tight and we were most impressed by the levels of service and finish.”

Officially opened by the Mayor of Stafford, Cllr Ann Edgeller, the shop is in a prime location next to the entrance to Stafford’s indoor market. It is open on Mondays to Saturdays, between 10pm and 4pm.
