Jotcham and Kendall Helps to Restore Community’s Pride
Down Ampney Village Hall which was destroyed in an arson attack last year has been rebuilt by Gloucestershire building contractor Jotcham and Kendall.
A ‘topping out’ ceremony has been held in Down Ampney, Gloucestershire, to mark the successful completion of work on the outside of the new village hall.
Jotcham and Kendall, of Wotton-under-Edge, has carried out the building work on behalf of the Down Ampney Village Hall Management Committee.
Divisional director Geoff Major said work on the inside of the hall was likely to be completed around Christmas time and the £330,000 project had involved demolition and a complete rebuild of the village hall on the existing foundations.
The building – which is scheduled to reopen in the New Year - includes a large main hall, a lounge bar area, a new meeting room in the roof space, a kitchen, toilets and additional storage space.
“We were able to get on site in July and the work has gone well,” said Mr Major. “We are told that the village hall was very busy and much loved and it is a pleasure for Jotcham and Kendall to work on such a community project in our home area.”
“The village hall committee wanted from the outset to improve on previous facilities and have worked closely with us to deliver a village hall we both can be proud of.
