Joint Venture To Wrap Homes In Wool

A Stoke-on-Trent construction company is looking to the Welsh hills for the latest in innovative building techniques.

J & S Seddon Building is investing in a new eco friendly form of insulation for its building projects – sheep’s wool.

Following an extensive testing process, the company has joined forces with recently formed Black Mountain Insulation to introduce the concept to Midlands development projects.

Seddon is so impressed with the North Wales based company that it has invested in the business and has pledged to use its products in the company’s new developments where appropriate.

Alan Nixon, managing director of J & S Seddon Building, said: “The use of wool is the perfect green solution for insulation issues.

“As a natural by-product of the sheep farming industry it is sustainable and natural, as well as biodegradable and recyclable.

“It is also easy and safe to handle and provides good insulation.

“Another major feature is its ability to effectively manage condensation. This is because when sheep’s wool absorbs water it creates energy, which warms the wool and helps prevents water escaping.”

Black Mountain, based in Rhyl, has invested in a dedicated factory to manufacture wool insulation. Wool comes from both English and Welsh sheep farms.
