Support For Charity Book
A COMMUNITY-SPIRITED book shop is to stock a local history book - which raises all proceeds to charity.
Picture Book in Leek has agreed to sell ‘Seddon, The Story So Far,’ a book charting the people and projects behind one of Stoke-on-Trent’s largest employers.
All the proceeds from the sale of the book – which costs £7.50 – are going to the North Staffs Heart Committee.
‘Seddon, The Story So Far’ is a 200-page book written to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company – originally set-up in Lancashire in 1897 – which registered an office in North Staffordshire in 1957.
The publication was originally written to give to staff and retired employees, but the company received a number of enquiries from people wanting to purchase the book.
As a result, an approach was made to Picture Book – which has an extensive stock of local and natural history books at its Stanley Street shop – and the owners have agreed to sell the publication, and pass on the £7.50 cover price to the North Staffs Heart Committee.
The shop is also selling the book online by putting the book on their website www.leekbooks.tbpcontrol.co.uk . A charge will be made for postage.
A spokesperson from the shop said: “We were only too happy to sell the book and help raise money for the charity, which does a great deal of good work across the region.”
‘Seddon, The Story So Far’ has been written by the company’s PR consultant, Jane Shepherd, and project managed by retired company managing director Clive Russell. It has been designed and printed in Stoke-on-Trent by JH Brookes of Hanley.
Tony Berry, of the North Staffs Heart Committee, said: “It is incredibly generous of Picture Book to help us in this way to raise funds for the charity.”
Copies of the book are also available from Seddon directly. Further details can be found at www.seddonstoke.co.uk or by contacting 01782 599511.
