Seddon Shows Vested Interest in Urban Vision
A Stoke-on-Trent construction, maintenance and painting company has sponsored an initiative that encourages schoolchildren to think about architecture – by providing high visibility vests for the children to wear during site visits.
Seddon (Stoke) Limited is lending its support to Urban Vision North Staffordshire, an architecture and urban design centre based at the Burslem School of Art in the Potteries.
The company has provided 30 high visibility vests for youngsters to wear during visits to contemporary buildings throughout the North Staffordshire area and further afield.
Urban Vision is part of a national government-backed scheme, called ‘How Places Work’, which offers secondary schoolchildren the chance to discover the excitement of public buildings and spaces for themselves, guided by some of the UK’s most knowledgeable and passionate campaigners for good design.
Hannah Barter, Project Development Officer for Urban Vision said “The vests not only make the children easy to spot during their tours, but also provide them with a uniform identity.
“During Phase One of the programme visits have been made to buildings in the North Staffordshire area. In Phase Two the vests will travel further afield as children will be taken to venues throughout the UK, such as the Tate Modern art gallery in London.”
