Topping Out at Bentilee
The Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent Maurice Lewis swapped the chains of office for a high viz vest and hard hat to carry out a 'topping out' ceremony at Bentilee District Centre.
The ceremony marked the halfway point in the construction of the multi million project.
J & S Seddon (Building) Limited director, Barry Thompson, presented the Lord Mayor with a ceremonial trowel to mark the event.
Bentilee District Centre will provide a one stop centre
for major services to local people. Located off Dawlish Drive, it will include a housing office, library, primary health care centre, Citizens Advice Bureau, a community centre, youth facilities, a health walk in centre and new retail units. It is due to open in the spring of 2007.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council, in partnership with North Stoke Primary Care Trust, has appointed Regenter to build and operate the £50 million centre over the next 25 years. J & S Seddon (Building) Limited are carrying out the construction work.
