New Construction Centre Named After John Seddon
A new £5million Building Technology Centre in Stoke on Trent has been named after one of the most influential names in the construction business, Mr John Seddon.
The John Seddon Building Technology Centre at Stoke on Trent College's Burslem Campus will help local people learn the construction skills needed to work in North Staffordshire's multi-billion pound regeneration arena.
Mr Seddon is chairman of The Seddon Group, one of the UK's key privately owned construction concerns, and of which Seddon (Stoke) Limited, and J & S Seddon (Building)Limited is part. He studied at Stoke on Trent College in 1952 and has been an active member of the college's governing body for more than 20 years, as well as a major influence in construction training in North Staffordshire and beyond.
The Building Technology Centre is funded by regional development agency Advantage West Midlands, the Learning and Skills Council and Stoke on Trent College.
Skills training and assessment facilities at the centre will include plumbing, gas, painting and decorating, bench joinery, site carpentry and wood machining.
